Has anyone been on a cruise over the Christmas Holidays?
Were there holiday related decorations and activities? We have decided to forego the traditional family Christmas that we do every year and have booked a Western Carribean cruise on the Golden Princess.

Yes I’ve been on several cruises over the Christmas Holidays. I don’t know if you are asking about a Christian services, but yes there are the whole series Christian services for both Catholics and Protestant. They have traditional Christmas Hymn Sings (Christmas Carols). They have real good Christmas decorations throughout the common areas in the ship and little Christmas touches in each cabin. Besides religious Christmas celebrations they also have "holiday" songs like Jingle Bells, Have a Holly Jolly Christmas, Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer etc. There are so many Christmas related activities, I really can’t put it all on one post so let me put it like this. The ships have a lot of employees who are away from home during the Christmas holidays and who are homesick. The ships go out of their way to make sure the staff has a lot of Christmassy things to do in order to help take their mind off their homesickness and the crew really outdo themselves involving themselves in Christmas related activities.

I went on a cruise on a small ship with my parents when I was about 10. The ship was called the Hornblower. It was so boring, for my brother and I and my parents. Everyone was drunk and some lady fell over and broke her leg and the capitan started hitting on her. We got the tickets for free though. The owner gave them to us because he liked out Christmas light display. If you do go on a holiday cruise, you’re probably gping to have to pay a lot so it will be more fun.

going on a cruise at any time of the year is a fun experience. everyone should do it at least once. the only draw back with the holidays, are the jacked up prices, the one i went on last august was 300 a person, but on the major holidays it was 775.

My family went on a Holland America cruise 3 years ago for Christmas. It was a lot of fun. Everything was decorated, and the cruise line offered little decoration packages for the cabins. We picked one that had a little Christmas tree, and then a bottle of wine for my parents. The little Christmas tree is now in my dorm room.
On Christmas day Santa came down through one of the smokestacks, and gave all the kids presents (little Holland America merchandise). All the staff were in Santa hats. It was a lot of fun (and much warmer than home).

nope, and no

Yes! Most ships have decorations. Check with your Cruise travel agent/cruise website because some cruises will offer many activities and some do not because everyone who takes a cruise at that time may or may not want to celebrate.
Happy Cruising……!

You’ll have an absolute blast. My mom goes every year and all she does is rave about the trip…just think you don’t have to cook the fancy dinner, all the decorating is done…you just sit back, relax and enjoy the festivities and all the partying….most cruise ships really do holidays right..this one should be no different…have fun…

Christmas river cruise holiday to one of the most enchanting corners of Europe. We celebrate Christmas in real style, because the Rhine cruise arranged a German style Christmas Eve dinner, a five course Christmas Day lunch and a special party night on board with live music. A Christmas to remember!

Well I think that christmas is a festival of happiness and decorations. We all like to meet with eachother and share their feelings.Because of heavy cold and shiver some like to enjoy it in their own home or others.
But young guys who are in joyful mood may go for cruise. It also has a different feeling.I am having a practical experience of that.
But yes children will definetely not like it.They would like to be more busy with chocolates, lights, candies etc.
After all it depends on one’s own as how to enjoy it.

I was going to go this year but a few of my parents close friends said around that time ( depends on where you are going) it’s hurricane season. I might go to the Bahamas, but I’m going to check the weather down there first.

We did it on Celebrity a few years back and loved it! They had carols and all sorts of games and a couple of services you could go to. Santa showed up for the kids and there was a Christmas Tea with all sorts of cakes and things. There will be lots to do on a Holiday cruise and as long as you are with your loved ones you will have a blast! Plus-you will be in the Carribean and swiming and shopping!

I went on a cruise from Dec. 26 to Dec. 31. The ship was decorated in holiday decor, but little mention of the holiday was made. Maybe because it did not technically fall on x-mas. But I also believe that it is because they tend to book a lot more non-christians on those cruises. They usually get the time off work, and have no big holiday celebrations to go to on x-mas, so why not take a cruise. You should check with the individual cruise line before booking to see what holiday activities there may be. But my guess is that it would be minimum.

Nope…never leave home for Christmas! For us it’s time for family and friends. Travel can happen the rest of the year.
But enjoy!

I went on a cruise of the Hawaiian islands during Christmas in 2003. I was able to forget about all the Christmas tension of shopping, the crowds, and buying stuff. I can’t stand all that! The ship was decorated for Christmas and there was a beautiful Christmas tree in a large atrium area and they had Santa for the kids.
